About Alan D. Walker, DDS
Dr. Alan D. Walker, DDS is a retired US Army Lieutenant Colonel whom served more than 30 years of combined (22+ years active) military and civilian service. He has treated and/or seen perhaps more than 20,000 patients military and civilian while serving as a military Dentist since 2010. Dr. Alan D. Walker, DDS humbly grew up as a Georgia native, graduated high school in late 80s and subsequently so strongly desired to serve our great nation that he enlisted in US Army at age 18 years as an Electronic Warfare Signals Intelligence Analyst, a Spanish Linguist ( Defense Language Institute), and a US Army Paratrooper while honorably serving as an enlisted Soldier assigned to Fort Bragg, NC in early 1990s. He became a US military veteran of Operations Desert Shield/Storm by age 19 years old in 1991. After Desert Storm and completing his initial military obligations, he then realized that the life-long service/sacrifice of any one individual is to be greater than those with whom and for whom he shall serve, therefore career public service and life-long servant-citizenship must be qualified and thus can only be earned. This basic core belief helped to shape his personal vision, and directed him on his life’s mission(s)while it served as his precursor and motivation to seek the maximum potential from one’s life journeys; Of course, it also it laid the early foundations for his phenomenal achievements throughout his life, family and career; Curiously, long, before Dr. Alan Walker would arrive at his chosen profession as a proud Commonwealth of Virginia Dentist he proudly served in many professions with thousands of people from around the globe; In the 90s, he graduated Summa Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Occupational Therapy from a very iconic American Institution of higher learning known worldwide as the historic Tuskegee University; He was commissioned a 2LT in the US Army Medical Specialist Corps, serving for 8 years as an Occupational Therapist; He would again serve in the US military for another military deployment to Southwest Asia Operations; He then briefly left active military service to pursue his life-career resulting in earning his Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) degree from the nation’s 5th oldest Dental school in the United States located in Washington, DC., the renowned and distinguished Howard University. Dr. Walker would again return back to active military service for a 3rd and final long-term service obligation subsequently as a commissioned officer in the US Army Dental Corps in 2010 with assigned duties as a General Dentist to Joint Base Langley-Eustis and ultimately as Dental Clinic Commander, Fort Lee, Virginia; Alas, he would return once again for a short military tour in the Southwest Asia region of the globe in 2015; Dr. Walker and his awesome family decided in 2012 to permanently settle in Virginia, so they built a “home” of wood, mortar, metal and stone and still pray each day for it to be blessed with love, health, security, happiness and the intangible ( & some tangible) treasures of graced life; Dr. Alan Walker, ultimately retired from active military service in 2019, then immediately transitioned into civilian service. He and his team built a state of the art Dental Center in Richmond, Virginia. Dr. Alan D. Walker, has been very happily married to his P4L for 27 years and counting and they are raising 3 awesome children; Although, Dr. Walker loves to have serious fun he is equally serious about all aspects of his profession; He strives to achieve the best treatment outcomes and results possible with all patients; He was diagnosed with Obstructive Sleep Apnea (OSA) and therefore, considers Dental Sleep Medicine, in addition to Dental Implantology & General Dentistry and how best to efficaciously treat these disease/disorders as near and dear to his heart & soul; He sincerely adheres to the US Army MEDCOM’s medical triad of Sleep, Activity, Nutrition, a “Holy Grail” paradigm that is proven successful for the world’s greatest fighting US forces; This medical/dental model strives to deliver it’s subscriber’s to their maximum individualized states of Oral Health & Wellness utilizing a team approach. This is his core belief, goals and objectives of his daily practice, they are his PASSIONS delivered in a Spa quality setting! Hobbies are regular exercise, power walking, cycling and cardio based activities), spending quality time with family and friends, and creative writer/poetry and creative woodworker.
