Professional Statement

Yoon-Soo Cindy Bae, M.D., is a Board-certified cosmetic dermatologist and received her Bachelor in Science degree from the University of California, Los Angeles, graduating as a UC Presidential Scholar. She earned her medical degree from Boston University School of Medicine and completed a surgical internship at Weill Cornell New York Presbyterian Hospital and Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center. Dr. Bae completed her residency training in dermatology at Boston University School of Medicine and her laser, cosmetic and MOHS surgery fellowship at the Laser & Skin Surgery Center of New York. During her residency, Dr. Bae has received numerous awards and grants and has presented at national and international meetings (AAD, ASDS, ODAC, NEDS, World Congress). She is the recipient of the American Society for Dermatologic Surgery (ASDS) Cutting Edge Research Grant 2011 to investigate the role of collagenase in keloids, obtaining an IND from the FDA. Dr. Bae was presented with the ASDS Young Investigators Writing Competition Award for conducting a study on perioperative antibiotic use in dermatologic surgery. In addition, she has explored perceptions of isotretinoin use, funded by the American Acne and Rosacea Society. Recently, she was awarded the La Roche Posay North American Foundation Research Grant to evaluate self perceptions of skin aging and skin cancer risk after facial skin analysis. She has also served as a Resident Reviewer for the Journal of Clinical and Experimental Dermatology, Resident Editor for the Dermatology Self Assessment Program, and contributor for the Dermatology-In-Review Educational Testing and Assessment Systems. Dr. Bae has co-chaired the planning of the New England Dermatologic Society annual meeting 2012 and has been involved in the Play Safe in the Sun campaign hosted by the Women’s Dermatologic Society, while conducting research on sun protection. Dr. Bae has authored several book chapters, topics including laser surgery and scar revision. Her work has been published in numerous peer reviewed journals including, but not limited to the Journal of Investigative Dermatology, Dermatologic Surgery, Journal of the American Academy of Dermatology, American Journal of Dermatopathology, Lasers in Surgery and Medicine and Dermatologic Clinics. Research conducted by Dr. Bae and Dr. Geronemus was selected as Editor’s Choice for the November 2013 issue of Lasers in Surgery and Medicine. Dr. Bae is an Allergan national trainer for all aesthetic injectables and educates other physicians about how to properly and safely inject neuromodulators like Botox and Fillers.
