About Thomas D. Griffin, MD
Thomas D. Griffin, MD completed his undergraduate studies at the University of Notre Dame in 1975 and went on to graduate medical school at Jefferson Medical College in 1980. After completing Dermatology and Pathology residencies at Temple University, Dr. Griffin achieved triple board certification in Dermatology, Dermatopathology, and Pathology. He has served as President of The Pennsylvania Academy of Dermatology and Dermatologic Surgery, The Philadelphia Dermatology Society, and the Dermatology branch of The College of Physicians of Philadelphia. In his 30 years of practicing Dermatology and Dermatopathology, Dr. Griffin has amassed a significant amount of experience. He has been performing hair replacement surgery since 1988. He has experienced the full evolution of hair transplantation technology throughout the decade. Dr. Griffin takes a special interest in the human hair growth cycle and developing effective solutions to combat hair loss and promote hair growth. Dr. Griffin has been treating pattern hair loss in men and women throughout his entire career both surgically and non-surgically. His in-depth knowledge of the underlying pathology of hair loss is important in the treatment of hair loss of all types. As an innovator in the field of hair replacement surgery, Dr. Griffin is responsible for the development of Griffin Hair Restoration Center of Philadelphia. Dr. Griffin was the first physician in Philadelphia to perform PRP (Platelet Rich Plasma) injections for hair loss. He performs the FUE (Follicular Unit Excision) technique for harvesting follicles for hair transplantation. This technique does not leave a visible linear scar in the donor area and provides natural grafts for transplantation leaving a very natural result. Dr. Griffin considers hair replacement to be an art form and prides himself in being able to create a natural appearance which will last a lifetime.
