About Tarek M. Fakhouri, MD
Dr. Tarek M. Fakhouri, is a Fellowship-Trained MOHS Surgeon, is board-certified by the American Academy of Dermatology and is a member of the American College of MOHS Surgery and the American Society for Dermatologic Surgery. He specializes in the treatment of skin cancer and aesthetic reconstruction. Dr Tarek M. Fakhouri attended Vanderbilt University for his undergraduate studies where he majored in economics and molecular biology and was inducted into the Omicron Delta Epsilon national economics honor society. After completing his masters in medical science, he received his doctorate in medicine at Wayne State University School of Medicine. During medical school he was accepted into the Alpha Omega Alpha medical honor society and graduated with high distinction. He completed his internship in internal medicine at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital in Ann Arbor, where he served as chief resident of his internship class and was awarded the Chief’s Award by the internal medicine department. Dr. Tarek M. Fakhouri then completed his dermatology residency at Wayne State University Department of Dermatology. Following residency, Dr. Tarek M. Fakhouri completed a fellowship in procedural dermatology at Surgical Dermatology Group in Birmingham, where he performed and assisted in thousands of cases of MOHS Micrographic Surgery with advanced reconstructions. He has extensive training in a variety of cosmetic and laser procedures. Dr. Fakhouri was director of MOHS surgery at Wayne State University’s Department of Dermatology. He provided MOHS surgery services for Wayne State University Physician Group’s network of 600 doctors as well as for our nation’s veterans at the John D. Dingell VA hospital in Detroit. In his free time, he enjoys traveling, the outdoors, weight lifting, and obsessing over college football.
