About Richard Tom, DMD
Dr. Richard Tom graduated with a B.A. in Biology from Rutgers University, New Brunswick, NJ. He also served as a soldier in the U.S. Army Reserve with the rank of Specialist in Infantry and Fuel Supply. He then attended the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey (now the Rutgers School of Dental Medicine) and received his dental degree in 2001. Afterward, Dr. Tom completed a year-long comprehensive residency in all phases of dentistry and basic hospital medicine at St. Barnabas Hospital in New York City, a Level 1 Trauma Center that serves the metropolitan New York area. Being a career member of the Academy of General Dentistry, he has maintained and updated his skills with new developments and procedures in patient care. Dr. Tom worked with other excellent dentists in the New York and New Jersey area before seeking out a practice of his own. He found a kindred spirit in the retiring Dr. George Heflich, who sought a successor who shared a similar practice philosophy, enthusiasm, and friendliness. These are the principles that embody the great practice Dr. Heflich started in 1991, in the beautiful community of Nutley. The goal of RT Dental remains the same: to provide the best dental treatment while giving our patients the attention that they deserve. Dr. Tom is a long-time resident of Bergen County, New Jersey. He is married and the proud father of one daughter. He enjoys hiking, swimming, electronics, and traveling.
