About Mary Hurt, MD
Dr. Mary Hurt is a board-certified dermatologist who specializes in medical and surgical dermatology. After graduating from the International Baccalaureate Program at Pensacola High School, she went on to earn her Bachelor of Science degree in Biochemistry from the University of Notre Dame cum laude. She was a member of the Naval ROTC program at Notre Dame and then was selected for a Health Professions Scholarship to medical school. She earned her MD cum laude from Creighton University in 2003 where she was a member of the Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor Society. Dr. Hurt completed her internship at Naval Medical Center San Diego. She went on to Naval Flight Surgeon school where she earned her wings and then was assigned to Fleet Air Reconnaissance Squadron 4 as a flight surgeon. Subsequently, she completed her residency in dermatology at Naval Medical Center San Diego. Her first assignment as a dermatologist was at Naval Hospital Camp Pendleton, CA where she cared for Marines and their families for four years. She then was assigned to Naval Hospital Pensacola. During her time in the Navy, she trained many family medicine residents in dermatology. After 13 years of military service, Dr. Hurt entered private practice at Medical Center Clinic in Pensacola, FL for two years before moving to the Jacksonville area with her active duty Navy husband and children. She has been practicing dermatology for over ten years now and she is happy to be a part of Dermatology Specialists of North Florida. Dr. Hurt is a fellow of the American Academy of Dermatology and a member of the Jacksonville Dermatology Society.
