About Mary S. Bedford
Dr. Bedford is a well trained, experienced plastic surgeon who specializes in cosmetic and reconstructive surgery. She received her B.S. from the University of California, Irvine and her M.D. from the University of Pittsburgh, School of Medicine. Dr. Bedford completed her residency training in General Surgery as well as Plastic Surgery at Barnes-Jewish Hospital of Washington University Hospital in St. Louis, MO. Certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery, Dr. Bedford is experienced in many aspects of cosmetic and reconstructive surgery. Prior to entering private practice, Dr. Bedford completed a breast and aesthetic fellowship at Georgetown University Hospital. Here she trained with world renowned Drs. Scott L. Spear and Maurice Nahabedian performing a variety of breast surgery procedures, including microsurgical breast reconstruction. Dr. Bedford has published several articles addressing the issues of breast reconstruction which can be found in the journal of Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery. Additionally, she has given numerous presentations specifically addressing TRAM breast reconstruction as well as other procedures for breast cancer patients. As a woman she has the ability to relate to her female patients in an empathetic way that is unique between a female physician and her female patient.
