About Marlene C. Welch, MD
Dr. Marlene Welch has spent the last twelve years of her career building relationships with her patients. Her focus has been to reshape, rebuild and rejuvenate the breast, body, skin and face as a trained artist and surgeon. At the core of every transformation is the connection she makes with all of her patients. “I LOVE the connection I have with my patients. That is my motivation. My goal is to create meaningful changes in their lives.” As a young girl, Dr. Welch was inspired by a television program that highlighted stories of children from the Philippines in need of cleft lip and palette repair. That moment was the very beginning of her journey that has led to a fulfilling career in plastic surgery, Aesthetics and wellness. “I wouldn’t have had the opportunity to fulfill my goals without the love and support of my parents. They left their own families in the Philippines to come to America to give my siblings and me a better life. Those gifts of adversity have allowed me to have the beautiful life I have today and also give back to those in need.” Dr. Welch studied studio art as an undergraduate and went on to earn her medical degree with honors at the University of North Carolina School of Medicine. She continued her post-graduate medical education in surgery and plastic surgery at the University of Michigan Health System in Ann Arbor and earned her PhD in physiology at the University of Michigan Rackham Graduate School. She is board certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery and has spent the last decade at the University of Toledo College of Medicine and Life Sciences as an Associate Professor, Assistant Dean and Chief of the Division of Plastic Surgery. Dr. Welch also served as the Medical Director of FACES Skin Health Experts for three years and currently treats patients in affiliation with the Toledo Clinic.
