About Luis W. Lu, MD
Dr. Lu graduated Cum Laude from CH Peruvian University School of Medicine, affiliated to Johns Hopkins. He continued his training in General Surgery in Baltimore, Maryland and eventually in Ophthalmology graduating from Columbia University in New York. After a Fellowship in Oculoplastic and Reconstructive surgery sponsored by the New York Fellowship Society and New York Medical College, and an extra year of Cornea and External Diseases at Columbia University, he received post graduate training at Harvard Medical School. Founded the renowed Elk County Eye Clinic / Pennsylvania Eye Consultants, affiliated to the University of Pittsburgh in 1982. Dr. Lu relocated to Chandler, AZ in 2015 where he founded the Eye Consultants of Arizona, still providing patients a compassionate, quality care. Dr. Lu formerly served as an Instructor at the University of Pittsburgh and is an Honorary Professor of Ophthalmology at the CH Peruvian University School of Medicine, as well as a Preceptor for Arizona State University and the University of Phoenix. Dr. Lu is proudly certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology and the American Board of Eye Surgery. Dr. Lu specializes in complex eye surgeries. He has been listed in as one of the “Top Eye Surgeons” in the entire country. Dr. Luis Lu is widely regarded as a “Doctor’s Doctor.” Over the course of his career he has been honored with awards from the American Academy of Ophthalmology, American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery, The Keratomileusis Study Group, The Nikon Award, the Peruvian College of Surgeons, the Argentinian Society of Ophthalmology, the Colombian Society, Mexican Society, and many other organizations. He is regularly invited to teach eye surgeons at major conferences and specialized forums. Dr. Lu’s prominent standing in the field of eye surgery is well balanced by his impeccable bedside manner and gentle touch, which continue to attract patients from around the Phoenix area. Dr. Lu has dedicated his career to the latest advancements, education and research in the field of eye surgery. He has designed award-winning ophthalmic surgical instruments, written four textbooks in eye surgery, over 25 chapters for ophthalmic books, about 500 articles in continuing medical education for ophthalmologists, and his work has been published in some of the most prestigious medical journals nationwide. Dr. Lu is a Board Member of the Arizona Latin-American Medical Association.
