About John J. Lomonaco, MD
Dr. John LoMonaco attended Medical School at the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston, and completed his 9 years of postgraduate training there as well. He trained at major hospitals in the Texas Medical Center, including Memorial-Hermann Hospital and M.D. Anderson Cancer Institute. During his training, he conducted laboratory research for two years at the Medical School studying tissue healing and helping develop skin substitutes for burn victims. Dr. LoMonaco graduated from a rigorous residency in general surgery, and received board certification by the American Board of Surgery. He then went on to complete an accredited fellowship in plastic surgery, and received board certification in Plastic Surgery during his first year of practice. During his formal training, Dr. LoMonaco participated in over 5,000 surgical procedures. After graduating from medical school in 1990, Dr LoMonaco went on to complete a full 5-year residency General Surgery, followed by a 2 year fellowship in Plastic Surgery. He also spent 2 years as the prestigious Thomas Cronin Fellow in Plastic Sugery and performed laboratory research focused on developing skin substitures for burn patients during that time. He achieved board-certification in both General and Plastic Surgery, and served as Assitant Professor of Plastic Surgery at University of Texas Medical School at Houston for 2 years. He also served as Director of Plastic Surgery at the LBJ Hospital from 1999 to 2001. Dr. LoMonaco’ opened his private practice after Hurrican Allison in 2001, and is uniquely focused on breast and body contouring surgery with a special emphasis on post-bariatric surgery reconstruction. He is an avid fisherman, and enjoys time on the water with his 3 children, be it a kayak or his made-in-Texas sportfisher the Doc Holiday.
