About Johannah K. Valentine, MD
Johannah Kone Valentine, M.D. is a board-certified dermatologist and is committed to providing exceptional care for the health of your skin. Known for her caring bedside manner, she specializes in general, pediatric and surgical dermatology. Additionally, she has expertise in cosmetic dermatology, scar treatment and advanced dermoscopy. A native of Brooklyn, NY, Dr. Valentine earned her B.S. in Biology from Yale University. She entered the service of our nation when she matriculated at the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences (USUHS) in Bethesda, Maryland. After receiving her medical doctorate from USUHS, she completed internship in internal medicine at Naval Medical Center San Diego (NMCSD). She then served four years as a United States Naval Flight Surgeon, first with HMH-466 of Marine Corps Air Station Miramar and deployed to Iraq in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom in 2007. Dr. Valentine was then hand-selected to be the flight surgeon for the prestigious United States Navy Blue Angels. She returned to NMCSD and completed residency in dermatology in 2013. After completing residency, Dr. Valentine joined the dermatology faculty of NMCSD where she also served as USUHS Associate Professor of Dermatology. In 2015 she deployed to East Asia and Polynesia aboard USNS Mercy in support of Pacific Partnership ’15 and finished her time in Navy in San Diego. In her free time, Dr. Valentine enjoys spending time with her husband and two children, exploring the outdoors. She is a fellow of the American Academy of Dermatology and a member of the American Medical Association and American Contact Dermatitis Society.
