About Edward Ray
Dr. Ray is a double-board certified Plastic & Reconstructive Surgeon with 20 years of post-graduate experience. As a diplomate of both the American Board of Plastic Surgery and the American Board of Surgery, and as a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons, Dr. Ray has completed residencies in General Surgery and Plastic Surgery as well as a two-year post-graduate research fellowship. Following his residency training, he was selected to participate in the prestigious reconstructive surgery fellowship as an instructor at the world-renowned Memorial Sloan Kettering (MSK) Cancer Center in New York, NY. During his time at MSK, he became acquainted with the advanced reconstructive and microsurgical techniques he employs in his practice today. Due to his expertise in advanced reconstruction and plastic surgery, Dr. Ray was recruited in 2016 to join the faculty at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles where he has achieved the academic rank of Assistant Professor of Surgery. He specializes in reconstruction after cancer, trauma and in gender-confirming procedures. Dr. Ray’s philosophy is to listen to his patients and tailor the surgical plan to individuals’ needs, wishes and lifestyle. One approach does not apply to every patient. In the highly competitive Beverly Hills and West Los Angeles market, there are a great many plastic surgeons who offer reconstructive surgery but very few of them who are as extensively trained and who offer the full spectrum of surgical options. For example, every plastic surgeon knows how to perform breast augmentation with implants. But how many of them perform autologous breast reconstruction and flap procedures or use microsurgical techniques that may eliminate the need for breast implants entirely? Dr. Ray is one a very small number of surgeons performing all of these procedures as faculty at a reputable academic medical center in Los Angeles.
