About Daniel I. Jacobs, MD
I obtained my medical degree from Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine. I then completed an internship and a residency in both general surgery and then plastic surgery at the University of Southern California in Los Angeles. I am board-certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery. In addition to English, I speak Hebrew and some modest Spanish. In addition to my clinical duties at Kaiser Permanente, I also assist start-up companies in research and development with medical products designed to improve surgical outcomes. As a surgeon, I understand our potential to do great good, as well as the potential for complications. I try to emphasize that just because we CAN do a surgical procedure does not imply that we SHOULD. The assessment of risk versus benefit must play a front-and-center role in the decision to operate – well before the gloves are donned.
