About Chinelo Ikpeama, MD
Dr. Chinelo Ikpeama, MD, MBA is a board-certified dermatologist. She is a Diplomate of the American Board of Dermatology and a Founding Member of the American Board of Medical Specialties. She is also a proud Houstonian and Texan. Dr. Ikpeama grew up in Friendswood, TX. She graduated summa cum laude from both Clear Brook High School and Texas Tech University. She matriculated to Texas Tech Medical School, where she was inducted into the illustrious Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society. She graduated with a dual degree in medicine and health administration. She then trained at the University of Texas Medical Branch (UTMB) in Galveston, TX where she served as Chief Resident in dermatology. Dr. Ikpeama won the 2017-2018 Outstanding UTMB Resident Award, a significant honor given to the most accomplished resident physician at UTMB. While at UTMB, Dr. Ikpeama was voted as a Rising Derm Star at the 2018 Winter Clinical Dermatology Conference. She was given an international travel grant from the American Academy of Dermatology and attended the 2017 British Association of Dermatology association meeting in Liverpool, UK. She also served as a member-at-large in the UTMB Chief Resident Association. She published research and was an author on over twelve podium and poster case reports at state and national dermatology meetings. Dr. Ikpeama has clinical interests in medical, surgical, cosmetic, and skin of color dermatology. She is skilled in the treatment of all skin cancers. She is proficient in filler injections and Botox. She enjoys treating all skin types and patients of all ages and believes such diversity in patient population is what makes dermatology an exciting field. Dr. Ikpeama maintains membership in the American Academy of Dermatology, the Houston Dermatological Society, the Texas Dermatologic Society, the Skin of Color Society, Harris County Medical Society, Texas Medical Association, and the Houston Medical Forum. Dr. Ikpeama is a proud Houstonian and enjoys following the Houston Texans, Rockets, and Astros. She also enjoys exercising, cooking, podcasts, traveling, trying new eateries in Houston, and spending time with family and friends.
