About the Procedure

The natural aging process can cause the vagina to become loose and sag. After vaginal delivery, the inner and outer structures of the vagina can also become lax and cause bladder control issues. Laser vaginal rejuvenation is a noninvasive procedure to enhance the appearance of the vagina as well as improve health issues such as moisture and incontinence. Much like vaginal rejuvenation with radio frequency energy, laser rejuvenation can be applied to both the inner and outer vaginal area. Laser rejuvenation though, is more ablative and will require a period of time to abstain from sex, typically no longer than 7 days. Popular brands of laser vaginal rejuvenation include diVa, MonaLisa Touch, FemTouch, and FemiLift. During the treatment session the patient will lay comfortably on a table throughout the procedure, experiencing little more than a warming sensation from the hand piece. Patients will not require any anesthesia or numbing creams for this procedure. The treatment hand piece, which is a rod with a laser energy emitting tip, is inserted into the vagina. The hand piece is rotated and slowly retracted to ensure 360° contact with the vaginal canal. The hand piece can also be applied to the outer labia to treat sagging skin. Treatment sessions last between 10-20 minutes. Patients will be able to return to all normal activity immediately after treatment with the exception of penetrative vaginal sex.

The goal of laser vaginal rejuvenation is to address patient's sexual dissatisfaction, laxity of the labia, an incontinence.
