About the Procedure

Last Updated: 09.24.2020

Endermologie is a completely noninvasive method for treating cellulite. Also referred to as lipomassage, the endermologie hand piece is comprised of rollers that simultaneously knead and suction the skin. This action helps to break up pockets of fat that cause the “cottage cheese” like appearance of cellulite as well as soften fibrous tissues that pull down the skin. Multiple treatments are needed to see results as well as monthly upkeep sessions for continued improvement, unlike Cellfina or Cellulaze which can show great improvement in just one procedure. Although it may not be as effective on cellulite, endermologie has been touted for its positive effects on the lymphatic system as well as overall circulation. Before treatment begins, the patient will change into a body forming suit that allows the endermologie hand piece to easily glide over the skin. The patient will lie face down on a table while the hand piece is guided up and down the entire body, kneading and suctioning the skin. With each pass, it draws up the skin and rolls it around to help break up cellulite. Once the entire body has been treated, the practitioner will continue the massage but focus on trouble areas such as the butt, hips, and thighs. Treatment session typically last 35-50 minutes. When the session is complete, the patient can resume normal activities. Results are noticeable after multiple sessions, typically twice a week for a month with upkeep treatments once a month.

The goal of endermologie is to improve and diminish the appearance of cellulite.

Recovery Notes

Patients will see maximum results 8-12 weeks after the procedure which is the amount of time the body needs to metabolize the destroyed fat cells. Bruising from heating of the blood vessels between the fat cells is common and typically appears 1-2 days after treatment. For most patients this resolves within 2 weeks.
