## **Lash Extensions**
While you may recall our advice at the three-month mark to test-drive [eyelash enhancements](https://aedit.com/aedition/what-eyelash-treatments-are-right-for-you), now is the time to return for your final application or touch up. [Eyelash extensions](https://aedit.com/aedition/what-its-like-to-get-eyelash-extensions) need at least 24 hours to set and some people find that the lashes can start shedding as early as two weeks. Scheduling your appointment with a local lash technician anywhere from three to seven days before the wedding will ensure they are in tip-top shape. Oh, and don’t forget to factor in a patch test. If you have never had eyelash extensions or you haven’t had a treatment in the six months, you will likely need to go in for an allergy test 24 to 48 hours before your treatment. Once your faux fringe is in place, remember to remind your makeup artist that you won’t need mascara on the big day.

## **Hair Removal**
Sure, laser hair removal takes months, but [waxing](https://aedit.com/procedure/waxing), shaving, and [threading](https://aedit.com/procedure/threading) can all happen in the days before the wedding. In addition to body hair removal, now is the time to touch up your brows with a professional shaping. Brides and grooms will want to leave a few days in between waxing and the wedding day so that any irritation or redness can fade (note: this holds true for any treatments targeting the face or other parts of the body that you may want to flaunt during your wedding weekend!). 

While it is tempting to get waxed a week or two before your big day — especially if you are celebrating your bachelor or bachelorette party — just remember that your hair will need to be at least a quarter of an inch long to treat. With that in mind, resist shaving or waxing for the week prior to your wedding hair removal appointment. Grooms who are planning for a professional shave in the days leading up to the ceremony should check in with their groomer to see if there are any additional skincare or haircare steps that should be taken prior to treatment. 

## **Faux Glow**
If you are looking to get a little color before your wedding day, a spray tan is a sun-safe alternative to a natural tan. By now, [you should have already tested out](https://aedit.com/aedition/wedding-beauty-timeline-cosmetic-surgery-procedures-3-months-before) different tanning options and have settled on the exact shade, product, and technician. You will also want to practice a good body care routine of exfoliating (i.e. removing dead skin cells) and moisturizing to avoid any blotchiness and help your tan last longer.

We suggest scheduling your spray tan appointment two to three days ahead of your wedding. Not only will this give you enough time to fix it if anything should go wrong but also you will have some color for pre-wedding festivities like the rehearsal dinner. When booking your appointment, schedule it at least 24 hours after any hair removal appointments to ensure a smooth, even result.

Most professional and at-home self-tanners take at least a few hours to set. Since the product can rub off in the early stages, we urge brides or grooms to avoid tanning the morning of the wedding. On the flip side, don’t plan it too far out. Some people start to see their tan fade around a week after the treatment — especially on areas that are frequently washed (like the hands and face).

## **Hair Cut & Color**
With a week to go, it is high time to tend to your ‘do. While your wedding day hair and makeup routine are on lock, now is the time to touch up your hair color, get a trim, and [opt for a deep conditioning treatment and/or gloss](https://aedit.com/aedition/tips-for-styling-fine-thinning-hair-from-celebrity-hairstylists) to rejuvenate the locks. This can be particularly helpful for brides or grooms with dry or damaged hair. 

In terms of your haircare routine leading up to the big day, it is best to confirm with your hairstylist before trying anything at home. Don’t be surprised if he or she encourages you to wash and condition your hair the night *before* your ceremony. Not only will it save you time on your wedding day, but it may also provide a bit of additional grip to help your hairstyle last longer. This will allow you to dance the night away without having to worry about messing up your bridal ‘do.

## **Nail Care**
Last but not least, a lot of brides and grooms enjoy getting manicures and pedicures before the wedding day. Afterall, there will be plenty of close-up photos and admirers of the new bling and adorable hand holding. Because nail polish can chip easily, getting your nails done as close to walking down the aisle as possible is usually the safest option — especially if you plan on painting them yourself. There are approximately 30 more days until you utter the words ‘I do!’ You may be in the final countdown to your big day (i.e. when you can put wedding planning behind you forever), but there are still a few more beauty and grooming tips you may want to consider. With a month to go until your wedding day, now is the time to head to your board certified dermatologist or plastic surgeon’s office for Botox® and filler (if you’re interested, of course!). It is also a chance to undergo the last of your minimally invasive, complexion-perfecting skincare treatments that provide more of a boost than your average facial. 

## **Neurotoxin Injections**
Like any cosmetic procedure, [neurotoxin injections](https://aedit.com/aedition/comparing-neurotoxin-botulinum-type-a-injections-botox-dysport-jeuveau-xeomin) like Botox®, Dysport®, Jeuveau®, and Xeomin® are not necessary. But they have become an increasingly popular addition to skincare routines for brides- and grooms-to-be. So-called ‘[Botox Parties](https://newyork.cbslocal.com/2017/08/22/bridesmaids-get-botox/)’ have become a part of the bachelor and bachelorette weekend festivities for some wedding parties ahead of the big day. 

For the uninitiated, Botox® and the like are an injectable form of botulinum toxin type A that is approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration for the temporary improvement of moderate to severe glabellar (a.k.a. frown) lines, horizontal forehead lines, and crow’s feet. As we mentioned in previous timelines, [first-time neurotoxin patients](https://aedit.com/aedition/everything-you-need-to-know-before-getting-botox-for-the-first-time) should sit down for a consultation with a board certified dermatologist or plastic surgeon to ensure you share a similar aesthetic and to confirm the wrinkle reducer is the right treatment option for your concerns.

If you’ve never had a Botox® injection before, one month before your wedding is not the time to start. Unlike dermal fillers (more on that below!), there is no way to reverse the procedure. New patients should begin injections at least three to six months prior walking down the aisle to give the neurotoxin plenty of time to wear off. But, if you have a standing quarterly Botox® appointment with your derm, four weeks before the big day is the ideal time for a touch up.

There’s a reason they call Botox® a ‘lunchtime procedure.’ The injections themselves last all of 15 minutes — and that includes post-op icing. While the appointment might be quick, the results require patience. Neurotoxins take three to five days to kick in, with full results at the two-week mark. At that point, you’ll still have two weeks to go until your wedding to get comfortable with your skin and facial expressions. Most patients enjoy the wrinkle reducing benefits for three to four months (i.e. well after you return from your honeymoon). 


## **Dermal Filler**
Not to be confused with neurotoxins, [soft tissue fillers](https://aedit.com/aedition/everything-you-need-to-know-about-dermal-fillers) made of hyaluronic acid (HA), calcium hydroxylapatite (CaHA), and polylactic acid (PLA), to name a few, are injected into the skin to fill out wrinkles and add or restore volume. Popular uses include plumping up the lips, erasing smile lines, smoothing under-eye bags, defining the cheekbones, and filling out the temples. 

In our [one-year](https://aedit.com/aedition/wedding-beauty-timeline-cosmetic-surgery-procedures-one-year-in-advance) and [six-month timelines](https://aedit.com/aedition/wedding-beauty-timeline-cosmetic-surgery-procedures-6-months-before), we talked about giving dermal fillers and neurotoxin injections a test run. The benefit of starting early is that you have ample time to find a board certified provider that understands your aesthetic goals. And, since HA fillers like Juvederm®, Belotero®, and Restylane® can be dissolved with an enzyme called hyaluronidase, starting in advance allows you time to correct or remove any results you are unhappy with.

But, for long-time filler fans, a final appointment the month before the wedding is the perfect time for a touch up. You will have enough time to heal from any bruising or swelling that the injections might cause. Depending on the type, [filler can last](https://aedit.com/aedition/how-frequently-to-get-non-surgical-cosmetic-procedures-like-dermal-filler-botox-chemical-peel) anywhere from six months to two years or more.

## **Professional Skincare Treatments**
Consider this the last call for professional skincare services. While we don’t recommend trying anything for the first time at this point in the process, patients who began a multi-session chemical peel, laser, microneedling, or facial regimen should be nearing the end of their treatment plan.

As we discussed in our [six-month timeline](https://aedit.com/aedition/wedding-beauty-timeline-cosmetic-surgery-procedures-6-months-before), light chemical peels and non-ablative laser treatments are good options for those looking to correct hyperpigmentation (think: acne scars, sun damage, and dark spots), smooth fine lines and wrinkles, and improve radiance. Similarly, microneedling with add-ons like [platelet-rich plasma (PRP)](https://aedit.com/procedure/microneedling-with-prp) works wonders for brides and grooms looking to improve skin tone and texture, while boosting collagen production. 

If you have been following an [at-home skincare routine](https://aedit.com/aedition/aestheticians-dermatologists-share-at-home-skincare-tips), be sure to keep on top of it. Now is certainly not the time to switch things up, but sticking to what works will ensure your skin is in tip-top shape when you walk down the aisle. Now that we’ve gotten that out of the way, let’s talk about your beauty and grooming plan for the next three months. ## **Book Your Beauty and Grooming Vendors**
First up, let’s talk about hair and makeup. Depending on when and where you are getting married, bridal beauty vendors (i.e. hairstylists, makeup artists, manicurists, and groomers) book up fast. Now is a good time to start scheduling your hair and makeup trial(s). Each makeup artist and hairstylist will have their own personality, skillset, and aesthetic, which is why it is so important to do a test run. By meeting with them well in advance, you can have peace of mind that they understand your vision and will make you feel as comfortable as possible on your big day. During your appointments, you should plan to try out [different hairstyles](https://aedit.com/aedition/tips-for-styling-fine-thinning-hair-from-celebrity-hairstylists) (and maybe even hair colors!), as well as an array of [makeup options](https://aedit.com/aedition/contouring-tips-from-celebrity-makeup-artist-patrick-ta). ## **Consider a Lash Blast**

If you’ve never tried lash extensions before, you may want to consider a trial run now, so you can be sure they yield the results you are hoping for with plenty of time to remove them. If you already know you're interested, you might as well go ahead and book your final appointment. ## **Find Your Faux Glow**
If you are hoping for a tropical vacation-worthy glow without the trip or, well, sun, a spray tan is the quickest and safest option. Appointments should begin roughly three months before your wedding date, and, when you arrive at the salon, there are a few things to keep in mind:

1. **Establish Rapport**: First and foremost, make sure you feel comfortable with the technician. There is nothing worse than being in a vulnerable state with someone that doesn’t make you feel your best or share your aesthetic.
2. **Find Your Shade**: Discuss the different shade and treatment options. Many tanning salons offer a standard and express package, and one might work better with your schedule than the other. The shade choices are usually the same for the both options, but you should confirm with your tanning technician. 
3. **Set a Schedule**: Once you have settled on the perfect shade, come up with a game plan. In other words, figure out when the right time to get the spray tan is and account for any activities (think: bachelor and bachelorette parties, rehearsal dinner, etc.) leading up to the wedding that you might want to be sunkissed for.  

For brides and grooms who are contemplating self tanning, plan to do a test run with the product several weeks (or months!) in advance — especially if you’ve never used it before. If you don’t like the results, you still have enough time to let it fade and book a professional treatment.

## **Master the Art of the Eyebrow**
The three month mark is an ideal time to start thinking about your brows. For brides and grooms who are serious about achieving the perfect arches, [microblading](https://aedit.com/aedition/microblading-treatments-for-fuller-thicker-eyebrows) may be the solution. The semi-permanent technique uses a cosmetic tattoo pen to deposit pigmentation in the skin. The result is the illusion of fuller and more defined eyebrows that last a year or more. ## **Plan for Pearly Whites**
When it comes to [teeth whitening](https://aedit.com/aedition/how-to-get-your-biggest-brightest-whitest-smile), there are a couple of routes you can take: at-home kits or in-office treatments. Both come with their own set of pros and cons. The argument for going with professional treatments is that at-home whitening strips and pastes are, arguably, not as potent or effective. Most over-the-counter products have a lower concentration of whitening agents and, in turn, do not have as strong of an efficacy as the professional alternatives. Further, in-office treatments require less of a time commitment and last anywhere from six months to two years. 

On the flip side, professional teeth whitening will set you back anywhere from hundreds to thousands of dollars, whereas most over-the-counter teeth whitening kits cost under $50. Those at-home products also don’t require you to schedule an appointment with your dentist. When it comes to how you get your brightest, whitest smile, it’s all about personal preference.

You’re six months away from tying the knot, which means you’ve likely made a lot of progress on the wedding planning front. But how is your skin? ## **Skin Rejuvenation Treatments**
Breakouts, scarring, [rosacea](https://aedit.com/aedition/what-its-like-to-live-with-and-treat-rosacea), fine lines, hyperpigmentation, [sun damage](https://aedit.com/aedition/cosmetic-procedures-treatments-to-correct-sun-damage). No matter what your skin concern may be, rest assured that everybody has one. Fortunately, there are a number of professional skincare treatments (think: facials, chemical peels, laser resurfacing, and microneedling to name a few) that can exfoliate, hydrate, and revitalize the skin.

### **Facials**
“When done under a knowledgeable skincare specialist, facials can introduce glow, declog pores, and help even out complexion, texture, and skin tone,” says [Nikhil Dhingra, MD](https://aedit.com/provider/nikhil-dhingra-md-17376), a board certified dermatologist at Spring Street Dermatology in New York City. “All of which can make you shine for your big day.” 

While [facials](https://aedit.com/aedition/what-its-like-to-get-a-hydrafacial-for-clear-glowing-skin) and other minimally invasive cosmetic treatments can yield remarkable results, the months leading up to your wedding are not the time to experiment with something new. If you have a standing appointment with an aesthetician or dermatologist, by all means continue your visits. But, if you are a skincare newbie, be sure you give your complexion plenty of time to acclimate. 

“If you haven’t been regularly getting facials, starting six months before your wedding can be somewhat risky,” Dr. Dhingra warns. “I’ve had patients come in with rashes, eczemas, and newly developed acne secondary to products used during facials. These conditions are not instantaneous to develop and require repeated exposure, meaning that they may not appear in the first month or two but then, as you inch closer to your wedding, there’s a chance of developing a reaction that can take time to quell.”

### **Chemical Peels**
For brides and grooms looking to brighten their complexion while addressing common concerns like acne, hyperpigmentation, and fine lines, [chemical peels](https://aedit.com/procedure/superficial-chemical-peels) can be a very effective treatment. “Chemical peels in the months before a wedding are great,” Dr. Dhingra says. “I would avoid them for the last six weeks up to the event, but they can be useful for texture, pigmentation, brightness, and decreasing breakouts.” Available in a variety of professional and over-the-counter strengths, even the most superficial chemical peels exfoliate the skin — removing dead skin cells and promoting cell turnover. 

### **Laser Skin Resurfacing**
Similarly, non-ablative (read: non-wounding) [lasers](https://aedit.com/procedure/nonablative-fractional-lasers) can effectively treat a myriad of skin issues *and* improve the appearance of the skin. “Depending on the modality chosen, lasers can also be fantastic for collagen buildup, evening out pigmentation, and soothing facial redness,” Dr. Dhingra explains. “My personal pick for a laser in the six months before a wedding is the Laser Genesis, which is a gentle laser that evens out multiple skin concerns.”

### **Microneedling**
You’ll be glowing on your wedding day regardless of your skincare routine. But, if you are looking for an additional radiance boost, [microneedling](https://aedit.com/procedure/microneedling) may be just what the doctor ordered. “Microneedling four to six months before a wedding can be great, as the collagen buildup takes several months after your sessions to appear,” Dr. Dhingra says. Combining microneedling with [platelet-rich plasma (PRP)](https://aedit.com/procedure/microneedling-with-prp) or [radiofrequency (RF)](https://aedit.com/procedure/microneedling-with-radiofrequency) can further improve the results, though a series of three to six treatments, spaced four to six weeks apart, is usually needed for best results.

## **Dermal Filler & Injectables**

Dr. Dhingra recommends trying filler out anywhere from three to six months in advance of the wedding. “Too close doesn’t allow for enough time to adjust things — though, in the right hands, you ideally won’t need aggressive adjustment after injection,” he says. While the results of filler are immediate, it can take one to two weeks for swelling and bruising to subside. And, over the course of the first month, patients can expect to see the product further settle.“Filler ‘settles’ over a month or so after injection into a more natural state where facial contours and volume really take on their boosted form,” he explains. “I advocate for leaving yourself enough time to see these changes.”

If you like you like your filler, great! You can return the month of your wedding for any necessary touch-ups (the smallest tweaks can make a large impact). But, if you are unhappy with the results, hyaluronic acid-based fillers (like Juvederm®, Belotero®, and Restylane®) can be dissolved with an enzyme injection. “Hyaluronidase is the injectable enzyme that, when injected into an area treated with filler, goes to work pretty instantly to dissolve the product,” Dr. Dhingra says. “The effects can often be seen after one session. But, depending on the filler and the amount used, it can take multiple sessions of dissolving to fully remove a product.”

Unlike filler, neurotoxin injections take three to five days to kick in with peak results two weeks post-op. While there is minimal bruising or swelling associated with the procedure, the [results cannot be dissolved](https://aedit.com/aedition/everything-you-need-to-know-before-getting-botox-for-the-first-time). Instead, the effects will wear off over the course of three to four months. 

## **Continuing Multi-Session Treatments**
Six months away from your wedding date, you are hopefully at least half way done with any multi-session treatments you started.
