About Zev Shulkin, MD
I am dedicated to restoring vision, preventing vision loss, and providing reconstructive options when necessary. We provide patients with a multidisciplinary approach, and a unique ability to take care of patients with orbital and eyelid disease. This allows us to manage these difficult and complex ophthalmologic problems for the benefit of our patients. A native of Dallas, Dr. Shulkin specializes in diseases of the eyelid and orbit In both children and adults. His interests include thyroid eye disease, the eye socket, eye muscle disorders, droopy eyelids, and tumors of the eyelid and ocular adnexa. Dr. Shulkin’s unique and extensive training allows him to have an in depth understanding of both the functional and cosmetic needs of his patients. Dr. Shulkin devotes a significant portion of his time to surgical approaches to eye muscle disorders and can help patients who have disabling double vision or a wandering eye. He also performs cosmetic injectable treatments and cosmetic eyelid procedures to help his patients restore a more youthful appearance. Dr. Shulkin lectures on all aspects of orbital disease, strabismus, and eye socket disorders, and he has authored several papers for national meetings and journals. Dr. Shulkin grew up in Dallas and attended the Akiba Academy and St. Mark’s School of Texas before earning his undergraduate degree at the University of Texas where he was a member of the Texas Cowboys, a prestigious campus service organization. He returned to Dallas to attend medical school at UT Southwestern. He completed an internship at Baylor University Medical Center and then returned to UT Southwestern for a 3 year ophthalmology residency. After his residency, he completed a one year Fellowship in pediatric ophthalmology and adult strabismus at Children’s Medical Center in Dallas. Dr. Shulkin was then selected for a Fellowship at UT Southwestern in neuro-ophthalmology and ophthalmic plastic and reconstructive surgery.
