About Yu F. Yuen
I was born and raised in a Philadelphia suburb. After high school, I went to Stanford University for my undergraduate education. I double-majored in chemistry and psychology, intending to become a psychiatrist. During medical school, I decided to become an ophthalmologist, and did my residency at UCLA Jules Stein Eye Institute. After practicing for six years and starting a family, I decided to do another residency in dermatology. I did so, and have enjoyed practicing dermatology since 1995. I have three great kids and a wife who is also a dermatologist. I really enjoy working with my colleagues at Kaiser Permanente South Bay. Our Dermatology department is a great place to work. We have seven physicians now who all work well together. We help each other, and respect our colleagues. We also partner with Harbor UCLA to both educate ourselves, and to help teach the Dermatology residents in their program. This keeps us on our toes, and helps keep us up to date on the most current treatments and medical knowledge.
