About Wilfred Brown
Dr. Brown completed his medical training at the University of Witwatersrand in Johannesburg, South Africa. He relocated to the United Stated in 1988 and completed an internship in Internal Medicine at the Jersey City Medical Center followed by a six-year residency in General Surgery through a Yale University affiliate. During his surgical residency, he spent one year researching the viability of cryopreserved skin at the Yale University Skin Bank and Burn Unit, for which he won numerous awards. He completed his training with a two-year fellowship in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery through Pennsylvania State University. Dr. Brown is certified by both the American Board of Surgery and the American Board of Plastic Surgery, a distinction held by few plastic surgeons. He is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons as well as a member of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, the American Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons and many local and regional plastic surgery societies. Dr. Brown established his solo practice in Connecticut in 1999 where he has privileges at St. Mary’s and Waterbury Hospitals. He performs the majority of his procedures in Connecticut at the Naugatuck Valley Surgery Center. Since 2010, he has divided his time between his Connecticut and Manhattan practices. In Manhattan, Dr. Brown is the Director of Plastic Surgery at the prestigious Laser and Skin Surgery Center of New York, founded by the world-renowned dermatologist, Dr. Roy Geronemus. He holds privileges at Lenox Hill Hospital. Feeling strongly about the education of the next generation of Plastic Surgeons, Dr. Brown instructs the Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery Residents at the Manhattan Eye, Ear and Throat Hospital
