About Val P. Vallat, MD
Dr. Vallat received his Bachelor of Science degree from Haverford College in Cellular Biology. In 1983, he accepted a research position at the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine, before receiving his medical degree from Rutgers Medical School (Robert Wood Johnson School of Medicine) in 1988. After completing an Internal Medicine residency at Pennsylvania Hospital in Philadelphia, he then spent two additional years as a Post Doctoral Fellow involved in clinical dermatology research at The Rockefeller University in New York City, where he authored and published numerous articles in dermatology journals. He then performed his specialty training in Dermatology and Dermatologic Surgery at Cornell University Medical Center/New York Hospital in Manhattan. He is certified by the American Board of Dermatology and has been caring for dermatology patients since 1991. In addition, Dr. Vallat acts as a clinical preceptor for the Wake Forest University School of Medicine Physician Assistant Program, the Davidson College Medical Ethics Program, and the North Carolina Chapel Hill School of Nursing. He regularly participates in the American Academy of Dermatology Free Skin Cancer Screening Program. He is a Fellow of the American Academy of Dermatology, a member of the American Society for Dermatologic Surgery, the American Society for Laser Medicine and Surgery, the Dermatology Foundation Leaders Society, the North Carolina Medical Society, and the Mecklenburg County Medical Society. Dr. Vallat not only cares for general and surgical dermatology patients, such as skin cancer detection and surgery, but also is an expert in a wide variety of cosmetic services. These range from Botox to facial fillers, laser procedures, mole removal, sclerotherapy, and much more. Dr. Vallat derives his greatest pleasures in life from spending quality time with his children, laughing, learning, and loving together. He also particularly enjoys camping, skiing, tennis, playing guitar, and an occasional motorcycle ride on a country road.
