About Sonali G. Hanson, MD
Sonali G. Hanson, M.D. grew up in Houston and graduated Magna Cum Laude from Rice University in Houston with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology in 1991. She earned her medical degree from Baylor College of Medicine in Houston in 1995, completed her internship in pediatrics at Baylor College of Medicine in 1996, and finished her dermatology residency training at Baylor College of Medicine in 1999, at which time she was certified by the American Board of Dermatology. She practiced general dermatology for a year in Houston with Suzanne Bruce and Associates and then moved to St. Louis, Missouri, to receive further specialized training as a pediatric dermatology fellow at Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis, Missouri, working mainly at St. Louis Children's Hospital. She returned to Houston in 2001 to begin building her pediatric dermatology practice at Suzanne Bruce and Associates, and then joined Nigro Dermatology Group in 2004 to be able to concentrate fully on her pediatric dermatology practice. Dr. Hanson became board certified in the subspecialty of pediatric dermatology through the American Board of Dermatology in 2004, and she maintains her certification in general dermatology as well. Dr. Hanson joins Texas Dermatology in September 2018. Dr. Hanson has been a member of the American Academy of Dermatology and the Texas Dermatological Society since 1995, and she joined the Society for Pediatric Dermatology in 2000. She is also a longstanding member of the Harris County Medical Society. She was named a 2017 Houstonia Magazine Top Doctor. Dr. Hanson has two children, one in high school and one in college. She and her family support various charities, especially those that positively impact the growth and development of children and their health.
