About Sidney K. Simonian, DO
Dr. Sidney Simonian is a Board Certified comprehensive Ophthalmologist who entered into practice in 1981. She specializes in refractive cataract surgery, diabetic eye exams, glaucoma medical & laser treatment and reconstructive & cosmetic eyelid surgeries. Dr. Simonian attended medical school at the Michigan State University College of Osteopathic Medicine in East Lansing, MI. Dr. Simonian completed her residency training at Wayne State University’s Kresge Eye Institute in Detroit, MI. Dr. Simonian is a Clinical Professor of Ophthalmology at Michigan State University. She is a staff physician at St. John Macomb Oakland Hospital with full ophthalmic surgical privileges. Dr. Sidney Simonian is dually Board Certified by the American Osteopathic Board of Ophthalmology and the American Board of Ophthalmology. She served as Chair of the Board of Examiners for the American Osteopathic College of Ophthalmology (2001-2002) and Chair of the Department of Surgery at St. John Oakland Hospital (2002-2009). Additional leadership roles include current Chair of the Council of Medical Education for the American Osteopathic College of Ophthalmology, member of the Post-Doctoral Training Reference Committee, and past member of the Council of Post-Doctoral Training for the American Osteopathic Association. She has also served as President of the American Osteopathic Colleges of Ophthalmology and Otolaryngology, Head and Neck Surgery. She is a member of the American Osteopathic Colleges of Ophthalmology and Otolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgery (AOCOOHNS), the Michigan Osteopathic Association (MOA), the Michigan Society of Eye Physicians and Surgeons (MiSEPS) and the American Academy of Ophthalmology (AAO).
