About Shepherd G. Pryor, MD
Dr. Pryor is Double Board Certified in Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery as well as in Otolaryngology/Head and Neck Surgery. He graduated from Princeton University where he earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology/Neuroscience. He received his Medical Degree from Rush University Medical Center in Chicago, Illinois. He then completed his Internship in General Surgery and his Otolaryngology/Head & Neck Surgery Residency at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota. He then went on to serve as a Fellow in Facial Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery at the University of California at Davis Medical Center. He has dedicated his post-graduate training solely to the practice of facial plastic and reconstructive surgery. Dr. Pryor received numerous scholarship awards and grants while in residency, including a scholarship to attend a competitive facial plastic and reconstructive surgery course in New York. Dr. Pryor also received two scholarships to fund his humanitarian efforts. Scholarship funding by the American Academy of Otolaryngology/Head and Neck Surgery and the Mayo Clinic International Health Program allowed for Dr. Pryor to travel to Yancheng, China in 2006. Together with Smile China and leaders in the field, Dr. Pryor participated in a Cleft Lip and Palate surgical mission trip where surgical correction and medical care was provided to underprivileged children with facial deformities. Dr. Pryor remains committed in his humanitarian effort to this charitable cause. Dr Pryor has specific interest and experience in tissue and wound healing related to facial plastic and cosmetic surgery. In conjunction with an industry grant, Dr. Pryor is currently investigating new wound healing techniques designed to achieve superior cosmetic results. Most recently, Dr. Pryor has published articles specific to both rhinoplasty and facelift surgery and wound healing. Dr. Pryor has lectured in both national and international forums. He has published numerous original articles in peer-reviewed journals and has contributed a chapter to a Facial Plastic Surgery textbook. Dr. Shepherd Pryor is a published photographer. His humanitarian efforts have been featured in the Bulletin, a national publication for the specialty of Otolaryngology/Head and Neck Surgery. Dr. Pryor is Double Board Certified in Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery. He completed a formal one-year fellowship in Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at the University of California Davis Medical Center. He is a Member and Fellow of the American Academy of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, a Fellow of the American Academy of Otolaryngology/Head & Neck Surgery, and a Diplomate of both the American Board of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery as well as the American Board of Otolaryngology.
