About Sara Guerra
Dr. Sara M. Guerra is dual board certified in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery and Hand and Wrist Surgery. She specializes in surgery of the hand, wrist, as well as breast, skin, and cosmetic procedures. She is known for Wide Awake Hand Surgery where patients can comfortably undergo surgery without general anesthesia or sedation. As a native from Ontario, Canada, Dr. Guerra graduated with Great Distinction in Mechanical and Materials Engineering from the University of Windsor before completing a Masters Degree in Biomechanical Engineering on a full academic scholarship from the University of Western Ontario. Her thesis centered around the design of a joint implant used to study kinematics and joint loading of the upper limb. This work inspired her to pursue a career in medicine at McMaster University in Hamilton, Canada. Dr. Guerra completed Plastic Surgery residency training at the University of British Columbia in Vancouver, Canada and a Hand Surgery fellowship at The Mount Sinai Hospital in New York, USA. She has since been in practice in Ontario, Canada at the renowned Hand and Upper Limb Centre and at Windsor Regional Hospital where she continues to hold active privileges and academic standing at the hospital where she teaches residents and medical students.
