About Sandy L. Chen, MD
While at University of CA, Berkeley for undergraduate, I fell in love with the bay area. I received my medical degree at University of California, Davis and did an internal medicine year at Cedars-Sinai Hospital-UCLA affiliated program. Ophthalmology training at Casey Eye Institute, Oregon Health Sciences and University in Portland was a great experience. I got top-notch training in a dedicated eye center with renown program instructors and staff. The Northwest is a beautiful part of the country. The rain and snow took some getting used to, so I decided to move back to the bay area after training. After 10 years of working for a large medical group and in private practice, I decided to join venture with Dr. Lee and open up Alta Eye Care. Medical care has many government/ insurance mandates, cost, and restrictions. I hope to help patients maneuver through these limits and offer the best medical care with a personal touch. It has been gratifying to see my patients with almost no vision regaining 20/20 with surgery and treatment. For chronic eye diseases patients, it is about accompanying the patient, encouraging the patient, and sharing new advances in treatment. I hope to be your advocate for eye health so we can all enjoy the world with clarity and vivid colors.
