Did you know that any physician who chooses to perform cosmetic surgery can call themselves a “plastic surgeon”, even if they are not trained specifically in plastic surgery techniques or have experience with performing these procedures! It’s important to research your surgeon’s experience, training and licensure. Obtaining a medical license to diagnose and treat patients means a physician meets a minimum level of competency requirements, but it is not specific to any one specialty. Board Certification demonstrates a physician’s level of expertise in their specialty. Board certification is the “Gold Standard” because the physician has demonstrated exceptional knowledge, experience and skills to provide quality healthcare with superior outcomes within their specific specialty. Dr. Young has attended the very best in continuing education courses throughout hismilitary career for reconstructive plastic surgery, the treatment of burns, wound healing and surgical wound repairs, as well as trauma and emergency surgeries. In the subsequent 20 years performing Cosmetic Plastic Surgery, Dr. Young has continued his pursuit of excellence through learning. He actively participates in various conferences by the societies he holds membership in such as the ASAPS and ASPS, and with other aesthetic groups which host specialty conferences for facial surgeries, cosmetic surgeries, and skin care. He also participates in many on-line educational webinars. As a recognized expert, Dr. Young is often sought after by educational providers and manufacturers. Since it’s inception, Dr. Young has been a Medical Advisor and contributor to MJD Patient Communications, who publish materials to educate and inform plastic surgery patients.
