About Robert S. Schmidt, MD
Dr. Robert S. Schmidt is a double-board certified surgeon specializing in cosmetic and reconstructive surgery of the face and neck. A Delaware native, Dr. Schmidt received his undergraduate training in psychology at Duke University, graduating with honors. He received his medical degree from Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas. He then completed a residency in Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery at Virginia Commonwealth University Health System in Richmond, Virginia. Following his residency, Dr. Schmidt completed his training with a prestigious fellowship in facial plastic surgery awarded by the American Academy of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery. These fellowships consist of one-on-one training with national leaders in the field and represent the highest degree of training available in facial plastic surgery. After practicing for several years in Texas, Dr. Schmidt founded West End Facial Plastic Surgery in the Fall of 2017. Dr. Schmidt is board certified by both the American Board of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery and the American Board of Otolaryngology. He formerly was an instructor in the Department of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery at Virginia Commonwealth University. He is the author of several articles and book chapters on rhinoplasty and facial trauma. He has presented his work at the annual meetings of the American Academy of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeons.
