About Richard G. Glogau, MD
Richard G. Glogau, M.D. is a clinical professor of dermatology at the University of California San Francisco and is recognized worldwide as an expert in the treatment of the aging face. He is the developer of the Glogau Photoaging Classification, widely known as “The Glogau Wrinkle Scale”, which has become the standard evaluation scale used by physicians world-wide to treat frown lines, wrinkles, and sun damage. Over 38,000 medical professional and industry web sites now reference his scale. Dr. Glogau is a graduate of Harvard Medical School and is Board Certified in Dermatology and Dermatopathology. As an active member of the clinical faculty at the University of California San Francisco (UCSF) and formerly director of the post-doctoral fellowship in Cosmetic Dermatologic Surgery, Dr. Glogau has trained dermatologic surgeons from the all over the world. In 2017, Dr. Glogau was selected by US News & World Report as one of the top 1% of all dermatologists in the US. He was selected for inclusion in Super Doctors® 2017 list, and he has been repeatedly chosen as one of the 2,000 Best Doctors in America, including the 2019 list. Since 2001 to the present, Dr. Glogau has been selected by his peers for inclusion in every edition of Castle and Connolly™ “Top Doctors” list, a national survey of the most prominent doctors in their respective specialties. Dr. Glogau lectures extensively at professional meetings nationwide and is the author of four textbooks, 30 book chapters and over 80 medical journal articles. He consults for an extensive list of companies in the aesthetic arena and conducts numerous FDA clinical trials for the aesthetic industry.He is an expert on the cosmetic use of Botox® for facial frown lines and wrinkles, and is a pioneer for the clinical research of the drug to aid in excessive sweating of hands and underarms, a novel use that was featured nationally on ABC’s 20/20. Dr. Glogau and his wife live in San Francisco. They have one adult son living and working in San Francisco. Dr. Glogau and his family are very active philanthropists who founded the Glogau Teddy Bear Rescue Fund to help the families of hospitalized children at the UCSF Benioff Children’s Hospital.
