Frequently Asked Questions

How is Buccal Fat Removal performed?

plus

Dr. Miller performs his buccal fat removal procedure at the nearby surgical suite, taking approximately one hour from start to finish. The outpatient surgery is performed either with a local anesthetic or using general anesthesia, depending on the individual patient and extent of the surgery. To begin, Dr. Miller will make a small 2-4cm long incision between the cheek and gums, near the second molar. Through this incision, he will meticulously excise an adequate amount of fat, sculpting the cheek to a slender, pleasing contour. Dissolvable sutures will then be used to close the incision.

How is non surgical Rhinoplasty done?

plus

Also known as liquid rhinoplasty, non-surgical rhinoplasty allows the surgeon to alter the shape, size, and position of the nasal tip, straighten the nose, or hide bumps through the use of injectable fillers. Injectable fillers can painlessly, safely, and effectively reshape the nose, resulting in a dramatic difference in the overall appearance of the face.

How is Rhinoplasty performed?

plus

Also called reduction rhinoplasty, a nose reduction provides a solution for those who want a smaller nose, whether in terms of width, nostril size, or profile. The procedure involves removing nasal cartilage and bone, trimming, or rearranging them to achieve a smaller shape. During the healing process, the skin will shrink down and adopt the new, smaller nasal structure. Full results usually take 6-12 weeks to be seen while your healing will continue for the entire first year. As with any rhinoplasty procedure, results are different for each patient. You can expect bruising and swelling, especially around the eyes. It usually takes up to three weeks for these symptoms to disappear. You will also need to wear a firm splint over your nose for at least one week. Even though there is usually not much post-operative pain associated with reduction rhinoplasty, pain medication will be prescribed and can be taken as needed. You can usually return to work and daily activities within one week.

What kinds of liposuction work best?

plus

Power-assisted is much like suction-assisted, except for an instrument that amplifies the movement of the cannula, accelerating fat elimination. Ultrasound-assisted transfers energy through a particular handpiece that aids in relaxing and melting fat, allowing a larger amount of fat to be eradicated. This is best for bigger regions, compressed fat, and male patients. VASER, a variant of ultrasound-assisted, is an ultrasonic cannula with numerous indentations that equally diffuse the energy, enhancing fat interference and eradication. Laser-assisted is a moderately new technology. The concept is that the laser will function like the ultrasound to unsettle the fat cells and make fat deduction more effective and less painful.
