About Philip H. Beegle
Dr. Philip H. Beegle has been on the forefront of cosmetic and reconstructive plastic surgery for over thirty years. He was instrumental in the early development the revolutionary TRAM flap technique for reconstructive breast surgery, which was spearheaded by Atlanta Plastic Surgery co-founder Dr. Carl Hartrampf, as well as in the development several other methods of microsurgical breast reconstruction. Considered a leading expert in the field, Dr. Beegle has lectured around the world and, in 1993, was invited to become a member of the American Association of Plastic Surgeons in honor of his many contributions. In addition to his long and active involvement in a number of breast cancer organizations, including the Susan G. Komen® foundation and Bosom Buddies, Dr. Beegle has developed key techniques designed to use the patient’s own tissue during breast reconstruction, and has also conducted extensive research into the cause and prevention of capsular breast contracture, pioneering several techniques to help minimize the contracture rate. Today Dr. Beegle serves on the board of the Northside Hospital Breast Cancer Committee, part of the Northside Hospital Cancer Institute, in addition to serving Atlanta Plastic Surgery cosmetic and reconstructive surgery patients at their Atlanta and Newnan locations.
