Payam Tristani-Firouzi, MD is a Board Certified Dermatologist and is proud to join the Gateway Aesthetic Institute & Laser Center, bringing over 15 years of experience in Surgical and Cosmetic Dermatology. Dr. Tristani is also a fellowship-trained Mohs surgeon who specializes in the treatment, removal and reconstruction of skin cancers with the highest cure rate. Dr. Tristani is a leader in the field of Cosmetic Dermatology. She served as the Medical Director of the Cosmetic Clinic at the University of Utah. As the founding Director of this clinic, Dr. Tristani was instrumental in providing cutting edge and high quality services to her patients. She has authored numerous publications in Surgical and Cosmetic Dermatology and lectured extensively in these fields at local and national venues. Dr. Tristani has a long history of training dermatology residents, with both didactic and hands-on courses in state-of-the-art laser and cosmetic procedures. She regards teaching as an important part of her medical practice and her teaching skills were acknowledged by receiving the Teacher of the Year Award. Dr. Tristani believes in building lifelong relationships with her patients by providing exceptional care. She designs a comprehensive, state-of-the-art medical and aesthetic treatment plan that is uniquely tailored for each of her patients. By combining the science of medicine with an artistic vision, she is able to create natural individualized results that restore the youthful appearance of the skin. Dr. Tristani has particular expertise in the prevention and management of skin aging (especially from the intense Utah sun), with the goal of improving the health and beauty of the skin. Dr. Tristani obtained her Master’s Degree in Laboratory Medicine and Pathology and her Medical Degree from the University of Minnesota, receiving the highest distinction award. She then completed her residency in Dermatology and a prestigious fellowship in Mohs micrographic surgery at the University of Utah. She had been on faculty at the University of Utah as an Associate Professor. She is a Fellow of the American College of Mohs surgery and the American Society for Dermatologic Surgery. Dr. Tristani is the mother of 2 beautiful daughters and lives with her husband in Salt Lake City. In her leisure time she enjoys traveling, gourmet cooking, cinema, and hiking and biking in the majestic Utah outdoors. She also is an avid enthusiast of architecture (particularly mid century) and Interior Design.
