About Michael R. Christy
Dr. Michael R. Christy, a board certified plastic surgeon, recently joined Long Island Plastic Surgical Group. Dr. Christy graduated from Drew University and received his MA and MD from Boston University School of Medicine. He went on to complete a combined residency in General Surgery and Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery at the Mount Sinai Medical Center in New York. He then completed a Hand and Microsurgery Fellowship at the University of Southern California and Los Angeles County Hospital. From 2004-2016, Dr. Christy was on the faculty of the Johns Hopkins/University of Maryland Combined Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery Residency and the R Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center (STC) in Baltimore. During this time he won numerous honors and awards for his work in plastic and reconstructive surgery. He received the Shock Trauma Hero Award in 2006 for microsurgical reconstruction and again in 2012 for being part of the surgical team that performed the world’s most comprehensive facial transplantation to date, March 2012. He was also honored by both the House and State Senate of Maryland. He served as an Associate Professor and Chief of the Trauma Plastic Surgery service at STC since 2013. In 2016 he was awarded the Johns Hopkins/University of Maryland Teaching Award in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery for his dedication to resident education. He was also awarded Top Doctor by Castle Connolly in the Washington-Baltimore area and the NY Metro area.
