About Melissa C. King, MD
Melissa King, M.D., J.D. is a summa cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa graduate of the University of Richmond. She earned her law degree from the University of Virginia and medical degree from the Medical College of Virginia-Virginia Commonwealth University, where she was elected into the Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor Society. Dr. King completed both her internship in Internal Medicine and residency in Dermatology at MCV-VCU, where she served as Chief Resident. She is board-certified by the American Board of Dermatology and is a Fellow of the American Academy of Dermatologists. Dr. King has served as a contributor to a variety of magazine and news articles. On a broader medical scale, Dr. King also has an interest in whole-body wellness — the impact of lifestyle changes such as nutrition and exercise in achieving optimal health. Dr. King is the 2017 First Place award winner for Best Bedside Manner among dermatologists in Richmond (Our Health Magazine). Dr. King is a regular physician volunteer at the Health Brigade (formerly Fan Free Clinic) and has taken part in medical volunteer trips to South Africa and the Dominican Republic. When not practicing dermatology, you might find Dr. King out running in Richmond, reading a good book or cheering loudly at a basketball game for one of her three alma maters –UR, UVA and VCU.
