About Melissa S. Hu, MD
Dr. Hu is double board certified in Facial Plastics & Reconstructive Surgery and Otolaryngology, Head & Neck Surgery. Her specialized training provides her an in depth understanding of facial anatomy, structure, and function. Her eye for natural beauty, attention to detail, honest and welcoming approach to patients, has her patients returning. Dr. Hu's expertise includes rhinoplasty - primary and revision, eye rejuvenation, facelifts, and skin cancer reconstructions of the face and neck. She believes in a comprehensive approach to facial rejuvenation targeting problem areas with procedures and encouraging maintenance with treatments and skin care products. Growing up in the greater Houston area, Dr. Hu attended Cornell University for undergraduate studies and graduated cum laude as a College Scholar majoring in cultural anthropology and biochemistry. She completed medical school at the University of Texas Health Sciences Center at San Antonio and graduated Alpha Omega Alpha in the top 10 percent of her class. During her residency and fellowship training at Louisiana State University Health – Shreveport, she authored several articles in Laryngoscope and American Journal of Otolaryngology. She has been awarded the resident research award by the highly esteemed Triologic Society as well as the fellowship research award by the American Academy of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive surgery. She has authored and co-authored a number of articles on stem cell research and skin flaps. Dr. Hu is also co-author of a chapter in Ethnic Considerations in Facial Plastic Surgery.
