About Matthew Tamplen, MD
Matthew Tamplen is a Board Certified Otolaryngologist/Head and Neck Surgeon who specializes in Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery with a Medical Degree from the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA. Dr. Tamplen received a Bachelors Degree in Biochemistry and Molecular and Cellular Biology from The University of California, Davis. Dr. Tamplen excelled in his undergraduate studies receiving the prestigious full - tuition academic Regent's Scholarship from The University of California, Davis where he maintained a 4.0 GPA and graduated early ranked #1 in the College of Biological Sciences. Due to his unprecedented academic success at UC Davis, Dr. Tamplen was awarded The College Medal: The highest honor offered by the University to 1 graduating senior per year. Dr. Tamplen continued to excel in medical school receiving the highest score in the nation on The United States Medical Licensing Examination and was elected to the prestigious Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Society. Dr. Tamplen was accepted into his first choice, top ranked, five year surgical training program in his hometown of San Francisco at the University of California San Francisco. Dr. Tamplen continued his academic success in residency publishing over ten articles in peer reviewed journals, including a randomized control trial that has dramatically changed the way surgeons take care of postoperative patients. Dr. Tamplen has given numerous invited peer lectures at national meetings across the country.
