About Matthew J. Sewell, MD
Dr. Sewell is board-certified in dermatology and pediatric dermatology. As one of the few fellowship-trained pediatric dermatologists, he is well-suited to provide care for the entire family. Dr. Sewell earned a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry and a Doctor of Pharmacy at the University of Louisiana at Monroe, where he was the top graduate and a Howard Hughes Scholar. He then attended medical school at Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center in Shreveport where he earned his medical degree. Dr. Sewell was in the top of his medical school class and was one of the few elected as a member of the Alpha Omega Alpha medical honor society. Following graduation, he completed a pediatric intern year at the University of Texas Health Sciences Center in San Antonio prior to completing his dermatology residency at Virginia Commonwealth University where he served as Chief Resident during his final year. Dr. Sewell pursued further subspecialty training at the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill where he completed a Laser and Pediatric Dermatology Fellowship. Throughout his training and career, Dr. Sewell has received multiple honors and awards, given numerous presentations, and authored multiple publications. Dr. Sewell lives in The Woodlands with his wife, a radiologist specializing in breast imaging at Houston Methodist, and their three children. During his free time, he enjoys spending time with his family, running, and enjoying the local parks.
