About Matthew H. Mahoney, MD
Matthew H. Mahoney, M.D., is board-certified by the American Board of Dermatology. He completed his residency in dermatology at Eastern Virginia Medical School in 2007. During his training, he received over six months of specialty training in pediatric dermatology with Dr. Judith Williams, a respected clinician and researcher in the field of pediatric dermatology. Dr. Mahoney also trained under Dr. Antoinette Hood, an acclaimed dermatopathologist and dermatologist. He worked closely with Dr. David Pariser, former President of the American Academy of Dermatology, who is a leading clinical researcher in biologic and other therapies for psoriasis, as well as hyperhidrosis (excessive sweating). Prior to dermatology residency, Dr. Mahoney taught pediatrics to residents and medical students at All Children’s Hospital in downtown St. Petersburg. He completed a pediatric residency at the University of South Florida and All Children’s Hospital, and passed the American Board of Pediatrics in 2003. Dr. Mahoney attended medical school at Eastern Virginia Medical School in Norfolk, Virginia, where he earned his Medical Doctorate. He attended Virginia Tech and earned bachelors degrees in both Biology and English. Dr. Mahoney is active in continuing medical education, participating in our local Clinicopathologic Conference 5 times per year as well as attending other CME conferences. He is very active in teaching dermatology residents, pediatric residents and Allergy/Immunology fellows from the University of South Florida. He has hospital privileges and performs dermatology consultations at several local hospitals, including Johns Hopkins All Children’s Hospital.
