About Mark A. Berk, MD
Dr. Berk was born and raised in Toronto, Canada where he graduated from the University of Toronto with Bachelor of Science and Doctor of Medicine degrees. After completing his training in Internal Medicine, Dr. Berk became a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada. He later trained in Dermatology at the University of Chicago, where he became Chief Resident––ultimately becoming board-certified in Internal Medicine and Dermatology. Dr. Berk went on to become a Clinical Associate at the University of Chicago and Chief of Dermatology at the Chicago Medical School and at the North Chicago Veterans Medical Center. In 1990, he began private practice in Lake Forest, Illinois. Soon after, because of his reputation as an excellent dermatology teacher, Dr. Berk was recruited to become Chief of Dermatology at Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center where he founded The Skin Care Center and helped establish a pediatric dermatology and a dermatology AIDS clinic at the hospital. Dr. Berk has completed special training in skin laser, cosmetic procedures, and new skin cancer treatments. He instituted innovative ideas in The Skin Care Center to improve the modern evaluation of moles, psoriasis and severe acne. Dr. Berk has received top honors as an exceptional teacher, lecturer and clinician, and has been repeatedly voted ""A TOP DERMATOLOGIST IN CHICAGO"" and ""TOP COSMETIC DOCTOR"" by his peers and patients. Outside of dermatology, Dr. Berk enjoys travel, antiques, staying fit, and spending time with his family. He works hard to fulfill the mission of The Skin Care Center, providing each of his patients Wellness for the Whole Skin.
