About Loren S. Schechter, MD
Dr. Loren Schechter is a Board Certified plastic surgeon specializing in Gender Confirmation Surgery. His outstanding surgical skills, welcoming bedside manner and extensive experience have not only earned him recognition from his professional peers, but they have also made him a popular choice for patients seeking a safe, rewarding experience. He is a member of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, the American College of Surgeons, the American Society of Reconstructive Microsurgery, the American Society of Maxillofacial Surgery, the Midwest Association of Plastic Surgeons, the Society of Plastic Surgeons, and the Chicago Surgical Society. Dr. Schechter is also on the Board of Directors for the World Professional Association for Transgender Health (WPATH) and a founding member and President-elect of the American Society of Gender Surgeons. After receiving his undergraduate degree from the University of Michigan, Dr. Schechter received his medical degree with honors, from the University of Chicago Pritzker School of Medicine and completed his residency in general and plastic surgery as well as a fellowship in reconstructive microsurgery at the University of Chicago Hospitals. Based in metropolitan Chicago, Dr. Schechter offers the full spectrum of transfeminine and transmasculine procedures. Dr. Schechter lectures nationally and internationally at surgical meetings, universities, and community groups. He received the Illinois State Bar Association Community Leadership Award for advocacy in support of LGBT issues. Dr. Schechter’s office is located in Morton Grove, 30 minutes north of Chicago, and he performs gender confirmation surgeries at certified medical facilities in the greater Chicagoland area, including Weiss Memorial Hospital.
