About Lisa A. Garner, MD
Lisa Garner, M.D., F.A.A.D., is a Garland native. She received her Bachelor of Science, magna cum laude, in Pharmacy from the University of Houston and her Doctor of Medicine from Baylor College of Medicine. Dr. Garner completed an internship in internal medicine and residency in dermatology at The University of Texas Southwestern Medical School in 1987. During her residency, she completed rotations at Parkland Hospital, Dallas Veterans Administration Hospital and Children’s Medical Center. She served as chief resident in dermatology during her final year of training. She was certified by the American Board of Dermatology (ABMS) and became a Fellow of the American Academy of Dermatology in 1987. She is a Clinical Professor of Dermatology at UT Southwestern. Because she considers it a privilege to practice medicine and dermatology, Dr. Garner has worked with many professional dermatology societies. She was elected to serve on the Board of Directors of the American Academy of Dermatology by her fellow dermatologists from 2008 to 2012, and served as vice president of the Academy for 2013-2014. She has been active on many committees and task forces, as well as the Academy’s Advisory Board. In 2010, Dr. Garner served as president of the Women’s Dermatologic Society, a national organization that encourages networking, leadership development, mentoring and service. She also held multiple leadership positions in the Texas Dermatological Society and served as president in 2004 to 2005. She was president of the Dallas Dermatologic Society in 1994. She has been active in the Dermatology Foundation, a philanthropic organization, since 1998.
