About Lee H. Colony, MD
Lee H. Colony, M.D., F.A.C.S. a Board Certified plastic surgeon, certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery. He is a Fellow in the American College of Surgeons, and a member of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons and the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons. He is a recognized national speaker and in addition to his lectures and live surgery demonstrations, some of Dr. Colony’s insightful comments are featured in “Be Your Best – A Comprehensive Guide to Aesthetic Plastic Surgery.” Dr. Colony received his Pharmacy degree from North Dakota State University and his medical degree from the University of North Dakota and the University of Minnesota. He completed his General Surgery and Plastic Surgery residencies through Michigan State University in Grand Rapids, Michigan and he completed an additional one-year international microsurgery fellowship. At Michigan State University he was elevated to Associate Professor and became Director of Michigan Plastic Surgery in 1996. Dr. Colony has active privileges at McLaren Greater Lansing and he has been the director of the Sparrow Burn Unit and Wound Clinic. An AMA member, he is also active in the Ingham County Medical Society, Michigan State Medical Society, and maintains membership in the Michigan Academy of Plastic Surgeons. Dr. Colony resides in East Lansing with his wife and two daughters. They have three dogs and he enjoys outdoor activities. In addition to his local and state medical memberships, Dr. Colony has been a Board Member of the Lipoplasty Society of North America, The Body Contouring and Research Foundation, and the Lipoplasty University. He also teaches many instructional courses across the country on body contouring, liposuction, and tummy tucks. As well, the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons has included Dr. Colony’s “Advanced Lipo-Abdominoplasty” lecture in their maintenance of certification instructional DVD for plastic surgeons. His commitment to patient safety is highlighted by his advanced training as an inspector of outpatient surgery centers through the American Association for Accreditation of Ambulatory Surgical Facilities (AAAASF).
