About Kendall R. Roehl, MD

Kendall Roehl, MD a native Texan, is a board-certified plastic surgeon of the American Board of Plastic Surgery and a fellow. She has returned home to the Houston Bay Area after years of training and academic practice. Her passion for plastic and reconstructive surgery is breast reconstruction and cosmetic surgery. Dr. Roehl was born in south Texas and raised in Victoria. She graduated Summa Cum Laude with a double major in Biology and Chemistry from Sam Houston State University. While there, she received numerous academic scholarships, awards, held numerous leadership positions, and graduated from the honors college. In addition to her academic commitments, she was an athlete and received an All-American award in flag football. She then attended medical school at the University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston where she graduated top of her class and was elected to the prestigious Alpha Omega Alpha Honors Society as both a junior and senior medical student. Towards the end of her medical school training, Dr. Roehl realized the breadth and depth of plastic surgery, and her interest was captured. She matched into and completed an integrated plastic surgery residency at Galveston. There she received extensive training in reconstructive surgery for cancer, burns, and trauma as well as training in cosmetic surgery. Her cosmetic exposure included time with James Stuzin, the world-renowned cosmetic surgeon in Miami, FL. Dr. Kendall Roehl performs surgery in Memorial Plastic Surgery Clearlake TXDuring residency, Dr. Roehl gained exposure to breast reconstruction at MD Anderson and her niche was discovered. It was then she realized that her purpose in life was to serve women fighting the battle of their lives and help to restore them to their “whole” selves. She completed residency and then went on to do one of the most prestigious reconstructive microsurgery fellowships in the country at MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston. There she learned free tissue breast reconstruction including msTRAM, DIEP, SIEA, and SGAP as well as many other forms of both free tissue transfer and generalized flap reconstruction for a variety of cancer defects (skin cancer, head, and neck, sarcoma, abdominal, thoracic, and neurosurgical). She then started her career in academic medicine in Galveston and continued on to central Texas at Scott and White where she has now done hundreds of breast reconstructions of all types and developed a cosmetic practice as well. As an academic surgeon, she trained medical students and residents and has published many peer-reviewed articles and book chapters in plastic and reconstructive surgery. She is also a reviewer of literature published in the two most prestigious peer-reviewed plastic surgery journals, Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, and Annals of Plastic Surgery. She is an active member of the Texas Society of Plastic Surgeons, the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, and the American Society for Reconstructive Microsurgery where she has served on numerous committees. She is now returning to the Houston Bay Area to serve her community in both breast reconstruction at Clear Lake Regional Medical Center and cosmetic surgery at her private office. Her primary goal is to make patients feel complete after cancer or improve their current appearance with personalized care in an intimate and comfortable environment. Dr. Kendall Roehl at Memorial Plastic Surgery Clear Lake TexasIn her free time, she enjoys wine and cooking, running, and cross fitting. She is a member of the executive board at The Rose—a local organization that provides mammograms to the underserved and assists with breast cancer treatments for the women of Houston. With The Rose and Clear Lake Regional Medical Center, she spends much of her free time volunteering for local breast cancer charities and as a member of the Deaconesses volunteers for local children’s charities in Houston. Her greatest joy outside of work is her family–her son Kannon Reid, her husband David Mills, her most recent addition Knox Adda (their daughter), and boxers Kash and Lucy.
