About Keith Follmar
I was born in San Francisco and raised in the South Bay. After attending college at Cornell University, I obtained my medical degree from Duke University School of Medicine. I then completed an internship and a residency in plastic and reconstructive surgery at The Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, Maryland. Following the completion of my training in plastic surgery, I elected to stay at Johns Hopkins for an additional year to complete further specialty training in hand and upper extremity surgery. In addition to English, I speak some modest Spanish.A strong partnership between the patient and the surgeon is critical to achieving great outcomes in plastic surgery. The key ingredients to success include making the proper diagnosis, careful planning and a well-informed patient. This process starts long before either of us enters the operating room, and in many cases, my patients’ problems or concerns can be addressed without the need for surgery.
