About Karen L. Beasley, MD
Dr. Karen L. Beasley is a board certified cosmetic and medical dermatologist and a partner at The Maryland Dermatology Laser Skin and Vein Institute, as well as a fellow of American Society of Laser Medicine and Surgery. She graduated Magna Cum Laude from Loyola University Maryland in Baltimore. She earned her medical degree from the University of Maryland School of Medicine where she was a member of the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Society and was awarded with The Eugene Bereston award for Excellence in Dermatology. After an internship in Internal Medicine at the Pennsylvania State University Hershey Medical Center, she completed three years of specialized dermatology training at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Dr. Beasley is certified as a Diplomate of the American Board of Dermatology. She is also a Fellow of the American Academy of Dermatology, the American Society of Dermatologic Surgery, and the American College of Phlebology. Dr. Beasley is one of the most experienced dermatologic surgeons in non-surgical cosmetic procedures, specializing in facial and body rejuvenation through laser treatments, injectable fillers, neuromodulators, and vein therapy. She has lectured both locally and nationally on aesthetic dermatology topics. Dr. Beasley’s areas of expertise include laser skin rejuvenation, wrinkle treatment with neuromodulators like Botox® Cosmetic and Dysport®, liquid lifting with fillers like Restylane®, Juvederm®, Perlane®, Sculptra®, and Radiesse®, as well as advanced treatment of spider veins and varicose veins. Her practice includes comprehensive skin care evaluations and skin cancer screenings, cosmetic rejuvenation with neuromodulators and fillers, advanced treatment of rosacea, acne, and sun damage, skin therapy with over 40 different lasers and light sources, sclerotherapy, ultrasound guided foam sclerotherapy, ambulatory phlebectomy and photodynamic therapy. Dr. Beasley is also an expert in Voluma®, Kybella®, and Bellafill®, as well as body sculpting services. Dr. Beasley’s academic affiliation is with the University of Maryland School of Medicine, where she is a Clinical Assistant Professor of Dermatology. She instructs dermatology residents in the field of cosmetic dermatology at the Institute. In addition to teaching, she is actively involved in the evaluation and development of cutting-edge products and devices and has helped to facilitate FDA-approval for many popular cosmetic and dermatologic procedures and treatments. Dr. Beasley has been published in numerous peer-reviewed medical journals and cosmetic textbooks. She recently co-authored the authoritative textbook on vein treatment entitled Sclerotherapy and Vein Treatment. Dr. Beasley also volunteers her time to increase skin cancer awareness and detection through various free skin cancer screening programs like the Women’s Dermatologic Society’s “Play It Safe In the Sun”, the American Society of Dermatologic Surgery’s “Choose Skin Health”, and the American Academy of Dermatology’s “Melanoma Monday”.
