About Joseph Bivens
Dr. Joseph K. Bivens has dedicated his life to the enhancement and the re-creation of the human form. An artist and a musician, Dr. Bivens pursued Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery as a career path in order to fulfill his desires to embellish beauty and balance of the body. He was born in Florida where he attended the University of Florida for both undergraduate and Medical School. While at the University of Florida his research experiences in microvascular surgery and silicone gel implants paved the way for his interest and dedication to Plastic, Cosmetic and Reconstructive Surgery. His training in General Surgery was completed at New York Medical College Westchester County Medical Center, Valhalla, New York. Plastic Surgery training was done at the University of California San Diego where he specialized in Cosmetic Surgery, Breast Surgery and Body Contouring. After completing his training in plastic surgery he was honored to perfect his skills in Body Contouring and Liposuction by working with the fathers and promoters of the Liposuction industry in America, Drs. Illouz, Fornier, Hetter, Toledo and Lewis. Breast Reconstruction and body contouring became his focus during his years of practice in San Diego, California. Dr. Bivens moved to Atlanta, Georgia in 1996 where along with a busy private practice in Plastic Surgery he was a faculty member at Morehouse School of Medicine Department of Surgery, Associate Medical Director of a large IPA and member of the Atlanta Medical Association. He is certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery, a member of the American Society of Plastic Surgery, and a candidate of the American Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery. Dr. Bivens has most recently moved to Southern California which is an area in which people love to look good and remain as youthful as possible. The move has retuned him to his roots and to the area that he most appreciates. His personal goals in Plastic Surgery are to “bring beauty into the lives of people thru enhancement of the spirit, body and the mind. Cosmetic surgery is only the beginning”. Dr. Bivens has been a strong advocate in fitness and nutritional support as a means to promote and enhance youthful growth in patients’ lives. He is scheduled to obtain his boards in Age Management Medicine this year. This achievement will usher in a new era in which Cosmetic Surgery Rejuvenation meets pharmaceutical and genetic manipulation in Age Management Medicine. With the marriage of these two disciplines Cosmetic rejuvenation becomes individually specific and will cater to the internal and external needs of the patient.
