About John M. Eggleston, MD
"John M. Eggleston III, MD is a double board-certified plastic, reconstructive, and cosmetic surgeon with special interests in both initial and revision surgeries of the breast and body. He combines artistic vision with meticulous technique and strives to be both compassionate and approachable to all his patients. Dr. Eggleston spent 13 years as a professor of plastic surgery at Johns Hopkins University and Stanford University where he taught advanced reconstructive and cosmetic techniques including DIEP flap breast reconstruction. He completed his own general and plastic surgery training at Stanford University followed by an additional fellowship in microsurgery and hand surgery at the University of California San Diego. Before that, he graduated with honors from Dartmouth College and obtained his MD from the University of Virginia. He has published myriad peer-reviewed journal articles and book chapters and has lectured across the nation and abroad. Dr. Eggleston has a special interest in medical mission work and has taught and operated in developing nations throughout Latin America, Eastern Europe, Africa, and Asia. Parallel to his love for different cultures and ethnicities, he speaks French and Spanish in addition to English. Whether you need complex reconstruction following cancer treatment or simply desire restoration of face, breast or body, Dr. Eggleston provides high quality surgical care delivered with patient education, coordinated teamwork, and his hallmark infectious enthusiasm for his craft. Outside of the office, Dr. Eggleston is a family man. He enjoys spending time with his wife, Malena Amato, MD who is an oculoplastic surgeon in Austin, and their two sons. His other passions are the great outdoors, cycling, literature, and adventure.
