About John L. Clayton, MD
Dr. John L. Clayton is board certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery and the American Board of Surgery. He is Chief of the Division of Plastic Surgery at Intermountain Riverton Hospital. Before medical school at Louisiana State University, he earned his PhD in Epidemiology at Tulane University. Dr. Clayton completed his general surgery residency at the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA in Los Angeles, California, and his plastic and reconstructive surgery training at the University of North Carolina Hospitals in Chapel Hill. Dr. Clayton has been actively involved in research during all aspects of his training, including more recent research in breast cancer and breast reconstruction. He has 24 peer-reviewed journal publications and has given over 50 presentations to the medical community. Dr. Clayton currently serves on the editorial board of the Annals of Plastic Surgery. Dr. John L. Clayton is a third-generation plastic surgeon. His grandfather, also named Dr. John L. Clayton, started Clayton Plastic Surgery in 1963 and was later joined by his two sons. Dr. Clayton's father, Dr. John N. Clayton, practiced with Dr. Clayton until his retirement in 2017. Over the years, the Drs. Clayton have set the highest standards in medical enhancements and continue to aim to exceed their patients' expectations.
