About Joanne J. Lenert, MD
Dr. Joanne Lenert is assistant professor of Plastic Surgery at The George Washington University. She is board-certified in Plastic Surgery and is a member of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons and the National Capital Society of Plastic Surgeons. She has been recognized in Washingtonian Magazine as one of the area's best surgeons. Dr. Lenert has special interest and expertise in the fields of microsurgery, cancer reconstruction, breast surgery and body contouring after massive weight loss. Dr. Lenert graduated summa cum laude from Yale University and received her Doctor of Medicine degree from the University of Pennsylvania. After completing her General Surgery residency at the University of Pittsburgh, she went on to train in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at New York University. She served as Visiting clinical professor in Plastic Surgery at the University of Pittsburgh, where she developed expertise in Facial Nerve Reconstruction and was voted Teacher of the Year by the residents. Dr. Lenert practiced at Kaiser Permanente in San Diego, California, before obtaining additional fellowship training in Microsurgery and Cancer Reconstruction at the University of Texas - M.D. Anderson Cancer Center in Houston. She remained on staff at M.D. Anderson for an additional year before joining the Medical Faculty Associates of George Washington University in 2001.
