About Jason D. Petersen, MD
Dr. J. Dayne Petersen is a board certified plastic surgeon in Salt Lake City, Utah. Dr. Petersen earned his medical degree at the University Of Iowa College of Medicine. He then completed a plastic surgery residency through Summa Health System/Northeast Ohio Universities. He pursued additional, specialized training, completing a fellowship in craniofacial surgery at Washington University in St. Louis, Missouri. Dr. Petersen then achieved board certification by the American Board of Plastic Surgery, a distinction that begins with completion of and graduation from an approved training program in plastic surgery. Next, successful completion of a rigorous written examination to test his breadth of knowledge of the field of plastic surgery was required. And finally, Dr. Petersen sat for oral examinations wherein he was evaluated on his ability to make safe, patient centered medical decisions and achieve excellent results through careful scrutiny of his surgical outcomes. What sets Dr. Petersen apart is his concern and care for his patients. Patients routinely comment about how easy Dr. Petersen is to talk with. They emphasize how well he can explain a procedure, both gaining their trust and putting them at ease. He has received both the Silver and Golden Pillar Awards for Outstanding Patient Satisfaction, as measured by Press Ganey. The patient satisfaction scores of over a million physicians nationwide are measured by Press Ganey every year through various hospital systems and institutions. Dr. Petersen’s scores were rated above the 90th and 95th percentile respectively–among the highest in the nation. In addition to cosmetic and reconstructive plastic surgery, Dr. Petersen has made a commitment to treat and help children through pediatric plastic surgery. He is a member of the American Cleft Palate and Craniofacial Association. He treats many children every year from simple birth marks or protruding ears, to complex birth anomalies and deformities. He is often on call to help children who have been the victims of trauma. Before moving his practice to Utah, Dr. Petersen worked as a faculty member at the University of Oklahoma where he taught other how to perform plastic surgery. There he had a thriving adult and pediatric practice. While in Oklahoma he was the only board certified craniofacial surgeon offering pediatric care in the state.
